Short version: SafeUnfollow does not collect, store, sell, or transmit your personal data. Everything runs locally in your browser.

1. What SafeUnfollow does

SafeUnfollow is a Chrome extension that helps you find Instagram accounts that don't follow you back and clean them up safely. To do this, it reads your own follower/following data — either from your official Instagram data export or by reading your following list in your logged-in browser session.

2. Data we access — and where it stays

Your follower / following lists and any backup file you provide are read and processed entirely on your own device.
Results (your target list, protect list, progress) are saved locally in your browser storage (chrome.storage / IndexedDB) so the extension remembers your state.
None of this data is ever uploaded, sent to our servers, or shared with any third party. We operate no server that receives your Instagram data.

3. We never see your Instagram password

SafeUnfollow works inside your own already-logged-in Instagram session in your browser. It never asks for, sees, or stores your Instagram username, password, or login credentials.

4. The only external request: license verification

If you activate SafeUnfollow Pro, the extension sends your license key and a random device ID to our license server at api.finiteorder.com. The device ID is a random identifier your browser generates on first activation; it exists only to count how many devices share one license (limit: 2) and is not linked to you, your Instagram account, or any other service. Our server checks the key against our own records or, for card purchases, against our payment provider Gumroad. This request contains no Instagram data and no personal information beyond the license key you entered. Releasing a device from the extension deletes that device record.

5. Permissions we request

storage — save your analysis results and settings locally.
tabs / activeTab — open and detect your Instagram tab to run the analysis and cleanup helper.
notifications — show a system notification when cleanup finishes or is paused.
Host access to instagram.com — read your following list and assist cleanup on the page.
Host access to api.finiteorder.com — verify your Pro license key and count the devices using it.

6. No analytics, no tracking, no ads

SafeUnfollow includes no analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels, and no advertising. We do not build a profile of you.

7. Data deletion

All your data lives in your browser. You can erase everything at any time using the extension's "Reset / Start over" button, or by removing the extension.
